  • Size of the magnetite: how is it measured ?

    We measure the size of our magnetites by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and then carry out image processing afterwards.

  • Size of the magnetite: is it possible to have a bigger particle size?

    We produce magnetites from 100nm to 1µm. Hymag'in has already had the opportunity to propose powders of larger granulometry, if you have an idea of the size you are looking for: express your need here or contact us by e-mail at contact@hymagin.com

  • Are your powders considered as nanoparticles products ?

    According to the recommendations of the European Commission and the Prevention and Precautionary Committee, a nanomaterial contains at least 50% of its free particles with a size between 1 nm and 100 nm. At HYMAG'IN, we currently have all our products with a particle size greater than or equal to 100 nm. Thus, our products are not subject to nanotechnology regulations.

  • What do you mean by purity? How is it determined?

    Purity is the amount of magnetite present in our product after processing of the waste. It is measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD).

  • How can HYMAG'IN magnetite be pure using ferrous residues as raw material?

    HYMAG'IN magnetite has a purity level of 99%. We choose our raw materials carefully and ensure that they meet our purity standards. We then carry out an XRD step to identify the purity of our products.

  • What are the advantages of fine magnetite powder for water treatment?

    The fine particle size of HYMAG'IN magnetite powder allows our product to have a larger contact surface and to increase interactions with the pollutants present in the water. Thus, its effectiveness is improved.

  • What are the advantages of fine magnetite powder in composite?

    The advantage of HYMAG'IN fine powder is that it can be easily incorporated into composites such as polymers, fibres, paints etc.

  • What is a ferrite and what are its advantages?

    A ferrite is a ferromagnetic ceramic produced from iron oxide combined with other metals. Magnetite is not a ferrite, but we are able to inject ferrite elements into our magnetite to make a material with similar properties and thus improve the magnetic properties of our powder.

  • Do you produce massive ferrites?

    We do not produce moulded ferrites, as we do not carry out the chamotte and sintering stages. Hymag'in offers magnetic iron oxide powders with properties similar to those of soft ferrites.

  • Which pollutants are treated by magnetite in water treatment?

    Magnetite is capable of adsorbing or reducing traces of electrically charged pollutants. It treats certain metals: arsenic As, nickel Ni, lead Pb, copper Cu, hexavalent chromium Cr6+, etc. See more here. It also removes organic pollutants such as PFAS (perfluoroalkyl substances), chlorinated compounds (VOCs) such as PCE, TCE and CCl4.
