  • What is your hydrothermal synthesis and what are the ecological aspects of the process ?

    Hydrothermal synthesis is an aqueous process based on the reaction of water and ferrous material under pressure and temperature. Our process is based on soft chemistry and therefore proposes, from recycling ferrous waste, to produce at low temperature, with a low quantity of acid and to have a positive energy balance.

  • How is the size of the magnetite produced by your process measured ?

    We measure the size of our magnetites by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and then carry out image processing afterwards.

  • Is it possible to produce an iron oxide with a higher particle size with your process ?

  • How versatile is your process ?

    Our process offers many degrees of freedom in the experimental conditions : the choice of reagent, the temperature, the pressure, the duration of the reaction, the acid concentration, etc. are all parameters that can be manipulated in pre- or post-treatment to produce iron oxides with different characteristics.

  • Is it possible to produce a very pure powder with your process and how is the purity determined ?

    It is possible to produce a very pure powder depending on the choice of input material. The richer the raw materials are in iron, the purer the powders will be. The purity is the amount of magnetite present in the product after processing the raw materials. It is measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD).

  • What are the advantages of fine magnetite powder for water treatment ?

    The small particle size of the powder produced by the HYMAG'IN process allows the product to have a larger contact surface and to increase interactions with the pollutants present in the water. Thus, its effectiveness is improved.

  • What are the advantages of fine magnetite powder in composite ?

    The advantage of the fine powder produced with our process is that it can be easily incorporated into composites such as polymers, fibres, paints etc.

  • What is a ferrite and what are its advantages ?

    A ferrite is a ferromagnetic ceramic produced from iron oxide combined with other metals. Magnetite is not a ferrite, but we are able to inject ferrite elements into our magnetite to make a material with similar properties and thus improve the magnetic properties of our powder.

  • Is your process able to produce massive ferrites ?

    Our process does not allow us to produce moulded ferrites, as we do not carry out the chamotte and sintering stages. HYMAG'IN proposes to produce magnetic iron oxide powders with properties close to those of soft ferrites.

  • How many steps are needed to make ferrite powder with your process ?

    Our process, under pressure and temperature, allows the synthesis of ferrite powder in a single step. No mixing, bubbling or sintering, which saves a lot of time and space!

  • Which pollutants are treated by magnetite produced with your process in water treatment ?

    Magnetite is capable of adsorbing or reducing traces of electrically charged pollutants. It treats certain metals: arsenic As, nickel Ni, lead Pb, copper Cu, hexavalent chromium Cr6+, etc. See more here. It also removes organic pollutants such as PFAS (perfluoroalkyl substances), chlorinated compounds (VOCs) such as PCE, TCE and CCl4.

  • How can the possible production quantities of your process be increased ?

    HYMAG'IN sells the development of its process. By working on a joint development, an industrialization is possible. For our part, we have already carried out engineering and sizing studies to move on to the next stages.

  • Is it possible to package iron oxides in different ways with your process ?

    Our process allows the production of powder, which can be packaged in different ways: dry or in suspension, depending on your needs. It is best to talk to us so that we can understand your requirements and work out your ideal packaging.
