shielding

In the context of using electronic components that are affected by interferences, it is necessary to protect them thanks to shielding elements, which cannot be fully metal in the case of seals for example. HYMAG'IN's absorbing materials can fulfil this need.

A material's shielding characteristics, expressed in dB and assessed by its Shielding Effectiveness (SE), come from three phenomenons:

  • wave reflexion on the first interface
  • wave attenuation while going through the material because of losses
  • multiple reflexions that trap the wave inside the material

These three phenomenons add with each other and give the material a broad bandwidth with shielding characteristics.
